This also includes other independent and private sponsors. Role Purpose: The Communications Officer will play a key role in developing and implementing Concern Worldwide’s communications strategy. This position will be responsible for creating and disseminating content that promotes the organization’s mission, programs, and impact and that aligns with donor and project visibility plans. The Communications Officer will work closely with program staff to gather field information and stories, ensuring the voices of those we serve are heard. The role will mainly focus on developing communication materials (both internal and external) for Concern Worldwide Somalia; internal knowledge management on the SharePoint and Intranet platforms; and ad hoc support for the Grants and Information Manager. Responsibilities Communications • Train teams on how to capture appropriate photos and videos • Regularly update Concern Worldwide Somalia’s communications and visibility tracker • Liaise with Programme Coordinators and Programme teams on their monthly communications needs (programme or grant specific) and create plans to fulfil those needs (drafting blog post, contacting HQ team for additional support, etc.). • Liaise with programme teams to ensure that donor visibility requirements for all grants are met and aligned with the organisation's communication strategy • Participate in field trips with programme teams to gather photographs, videos, and case studies (including programme participants, upon signature and filing of informed consent).. • Work collaboratively with teams to creatively produce case studies, human interest stories, and social media posts that are aligned with our communications strategy • Support the country team in updating and creating communication and visibility materials to donor requirements and specifications (brochures, regular country and sectoral factsheets, posters, banners, clothing, etc.). • Ensure that communications materials follow Concern Worldwide’s Brand Guidelines, donor visibility and branding guidelines, and Data Protection policies • Understand the importance of adhering to Dóchas Code of Conduct, which outlines ethical principles that must be considered when taking photos and conveying messages • Lead on the translation of communication materials from English to Somali and vice versa. • • Work with partner staff to develop their communications capacity and review their communication products • Support teams with image quality in proposals, reports, presentations, etc. • Manage Concern Worldwide’s in-country social media sites – such as LinkedIn, Facebook…, posting approved and engaging materials, monitoring posts, recording and updating the Social Media trackers. • Review and contribute to the communications and visibility sections of donor reports • Represent Concern Worldwide as needed as the Communications focal point at grant meetings, TWGs, etc. • Liaise with the HQ team to ensure all photos/videos are saved to our StoryDesk platform Information Management (Grants Management Support) • Management of country pages on Concern Worldwide intranet and update as needed. • Organisation and management of folders on SharePoint • Maintain and organise communication-related databases • Support in planning and organising review meetings and minute-taking. • Uploading documents to our internal Grants Management System (GMS) • Ensuring full GMS data entry and keeping information up to date. • Support teams in extracting information from the GMS • Any other ad hoc duties as may be assigned by the line manager, that being consistent with the nature of the job Event Coordination • Assist in planning and executing communication strategies for events, campaigns, and initiatives. • Support the organization of donor events, and community outreach activities. Confidentiality • Ensure the non-disclosure of any information whatsoever acquired in the course of duty, relating to the practices and business of Concern Worldwide Worldwide, to any other person or Organization without authority, except in normal execution of the above duties Accountability and Safeguarding • In line with Concern Worldwide’s commitments under the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS): • Actively promote meaningful community participation and consultation at all stages of the project cycle (planning, implementation, M&E); • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that the Feedback, Complaints and Response Mechanism (FCRM) is functional and accessible, that feedback and complaints are welcomed and addressed. • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that information about FCRM, safeguarding and expected staff behaviour is disseminated among programme participants and communities. Concern Worldwide Code of Conduct and Associated Policies • Adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Concern Worldwide Code of Conduct & Associated Policies • Promote the standards outlined in the Concern Worldwide Code of Conduct & Associated Policies in the team, partner organisations, and programme participants, and be committed to providing a safe working environment. • To contribute to the establishment of preventive measures to reduce the potential for abuse and exploitation in Concern Worldwide’s programme Requirements Role Holder Requirements: • Relevant university degree in Development Studies, Communications or related field • 1-3 years relevant job experience in a similar role • Fluency in written and spoken Somali (knowledge of Maay is an asset) and English, excellent writing and communications skills essential. • Proficiency in social media platforms and digital communication tools • Post-production: experience and proficiency in processing photographs in Adobe Lightroom, and editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, Photoshop, etc. • Good communications and networking skills with peers. • Awareness of current Humanitarian and development trends in Somalia and Somaliland. • Experience taking photographs, videos, and conducting interviews • Experience with gender, equality, responsible data and protection mainstreaming. • Good team player, flexible, patient and adaptable to a changing environment. • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. • Proactive and willing to travel within Somalia as per programme requirements For GB2 – 6 Roles: Identify the 3-4 priority competencies required to be effective and successful in the role.
