Job Description: Senior Database Engineer Location 1 Position – Mogadishu, Somalia Background Amtel is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Database Engineer to lead the design, administration, optimization, and security of mission-critical fintech databases. The role requires deep expertise in SQL Server Enterprise, data engineering, and performance optimization within high-availability, high-transaction financial environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring data reliability, security, and regulatory compliance while supporting business growth. Duties and Responsibilities Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server Enterprise 2022 databases Design and manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions Implement and manage backup, restore, and maintenance strategies Ensure database security, including encryption, access control, and auditing Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS and T-SQL Support data ingestion from APIs, flat files, and staging systems Design and maintain fintech data models for transactions, ledgers, and accounts Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and partitioning Monitor and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and system issues Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics using BI tools Ensure compliance with regulatory and data privacy standards (AML, KYC, GDPR) Support knowledge transfer, documentation, and capacity buil 📧 Contact Information: Email: recruitment@amtelkom.com Phone: +252634002525
